3 Movie Jokes for Movie Buffs

Why was Matt Damon not in The Wizard of Oz ? Because he wasn't Bourne yet. Where does Walter White make animated films? Blue Sky Studios. A group of soldiers are trapped in a war zone. The lead soldier radios for backup. When backup does arrive, mermaids start falling from the sky. Frustrated, the lead soldier responds, "That's not what I meant by Ariel support!"

4 Reasons Why Maleficent is the Greatest Disney Live-Action Remake of All Time

Image
Disney has been a major part of my life ever since I was born, and in recent years, the beloved animated films produced by the studio have been turned into live-action remakes. While many people I have talked to find these remakes unnecessary, one of them stands out among the others as the greatest live-action remake of them all (no Snow White reference intended). That film is Maleficent (2014), the first of the modern wave of Disney Live-Action Remakes. In it, Angelina Jolie stars as the eponymous Disney villain, who is portrayed in this adaptation as an anti-hero who evolves into a mother figure to Aurora, ultimately coming to atone for the curse she inflicted on the princess in her infancy. Here are 4 Reasons Why Maleficent is the Greatest Disney Live-Action Remake of All Time. It's Technically Not a Remake When Maleficent came out in 2014, no one could have predicted the barrage of live-action remakes Disney would produce over the following years. Some of those remakes are c...

Hail, Caesar! (2016) is a mystery comedy film set in 1951 during the Golden Age of Hollywood, and it's about a fixer for a major Hollywood studio who investigates the kidnapping of a star actor during the filming of a biblical epic. When I first heard about this film, I didn't understand a lot of what was happening in it, but now that I have taken film studies at university, I have a better understanding of what was going on at the time, including the studio system and the rivalry between film and television. I hope to apply the knowledge I gained during this course by creating the Six Degrees of Hail, Caesar! , which include: DC Extended Universe Fast & Furious The Hunger Games James Bond Jurassic Park Marvel Cinematic Universe Middle-earth Mission: Impossible Pirates of the Caribbean Rocky Star Trek Star Wars Transformers The Twilight Saga Whoniverse Wizarding World X-Men

The Northman (2022)

A few days ago, my Dad and I watched a brutal Viking revenge epic called  The Northman  (2022), which serves as a precursor to William Shakespeare's Hamlet. It is directed by Robert Eggers and stars Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, Claes Bang, Anya Taylor-Joy, with Ethan Hawke ( Moon Knight ), Björk, and Willem Dafoe ( Spider-Man Trilogy ,  Spider-Man: No Way Home ). Afterwards, we read an article about how the movie promotes an offensive ideology, and our fellow patrons in the theatre felt much the same way. I, on the other hand, saw it as brutal, gritty, and what you would expect from a director who has transitioned to big budget films after previously directing independent horror films. In hindsight, it made me realize that everyone has their tastes and perspectives when it comes to the things they consume, and none of it has to do with the actors, let alone their other roles. Their real problem is with the crew, particularly the director, producers, and scree...

Welcome to the Goldverse

Image
Over the past few years, I have come to the conclusion that things need to change in my life and hobbies, and so I have created a new blog. Welcome to the Goldverse, a homemade world where movies and real life can work together in harmony to create meaningful, original stories. When it comes to genres, I like to dabble in all genres, from sci-fi and fantasy to action and adventure and, more recently, documentaries. Does anyone know any good European travel documentaries? I'm looking for ones that emphasize the positive aspects of travelling to Europe, because the last thing anyone wants is Liam Neeson hunting them down, which is highly unlikely. I will be updating this blog every Monday at 4:00 and every Friday at 5:00, so stay tuned. Let this be the beginning of a new era.
