Dune: Part Two (2024)
Look who's back, baby! It's me, Toby! While I was offline for a year, I was working on something very big, and in order to do this, I had to teach myself about both the inner and outer aspects of the film industry. By inner, I mean the world of the story, and by outer, I mean the cast and crew. I have been training long and hard, and today, all my hard work is about to pay off. I watched Dune: Part Two in theatres today, and it was epic. Directed by Denis Villeneuve (Sicario, Arrival, Blade Runner 2049) and starring Timothée Chalamet (Call Me by Your Name), Zendaya (Euphoria), Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible), Josh Brolin (Marvel Cinematic Universe), Austin Butler (Elvis), Florence Pugh (Little Women), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), Christopher Walken (A View to a Kill), Léa Seydoux (James Bond), with Stellan Skarsgård (Pirates of the Caribbean), with Charlotte Rampling (Dexter), and Javier Bardem (Skyfall), the movie was very good, although parts of it were pretty violent. I mean, the main character, Paul Atreides, was a combination of Michael Corleone, T.E. Lawrence, and Anakin Skywalker, all of whom wielded great power and made some devastating mistakes while at the hight of the insanity that came with it, but hey, they were only human, right? The supporting cast was good, too, each of them being either in support of or against Paul's destiny as Messiah. Part of the reason I chose to watch this epic sci-fi film was because it factors into my big project. You see, one of my shows, I don't remember what it's called, features several actors who overlap with the Dune franchise: Christopher Walken, Max von Sydow (who appeared in David Lynch's infamous film adaptation from 1984), Javier Bardem, Léa Seydoux, and Dave Bautista, to name a few. Overall, Dune: Part Two is definitely a keeper, as in one storyline on that show, there was a scene in which the main villain (Idris Elba, Luther, Thor, The Wire) takes command of a group of space criminals after gruesomely eviscerating their Stellan Skarsgård-esque mafia don. I'll keep all of you posted on the development of my grand plans. This is Toby, signing off.
